The Huzzah ESP8266 breakout is the heart of the unit (https://www.adafruit.com/product/2471). But before you can communicate with it you need to solder on a header to allow downloading the software.
Solder a 1×6 right angle male header onto the bottom part of the board. Don’t attach any other headers at this time.
Although you can go ahead and assemble the unit, I prefer to load the software onto the board first. I have had a couple of bad boards, so it is better to find out early instead of after you’ve soldered everything together. Attach the console cable or FTDI cable.
